Measure the space in two ways.
1. The final position
Record usable width, depth, and ceiling height. Include doors opening, a chair reclining, a stand rotating, and the clearance required by the exact product manual. Leave access for cleaning and maintenance.
2. The complete route into it
Measure the narrowest clear doorway, gate, corridor, stair landing, and tight turn. Compare them with the shipping package and approved assembly instructions; the equipment's finished width alone does not tell you whether delivery will work.
Decide who moves and installs it.
Curbside freight typically ends at the delivery point. Moving the item indoors, placing it in a backyard, assembling it, and connecting utilities can be separate services.
- Ask for the supplier's current dispatch estimate and the carrier's transit estimate separately.
- Confirm the service level, appointment requirements, liftgate or offload arrangements, and destination eligibility.
- Arrange appropriate help for final placement. Ask whether a paid delivery upgrade is available for the selected product and destination.

Budget for ownership, not only the item.
- Delivery and installation: identify which charges are included and which are separate.
- Maintenance: follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and model-specific care instructions.
- Warranty: distinguish parts, labor, structural coverage, exclusions, and residential versus commercial use.
